It's hard to tell the good restaurants from the bad, or at least the mediocre, while meandering through the logo-embezzled piazza and harbor of Porto Cervo. Madai is a new kid on the block, a great one at that, captured inside a prime piece of real estate with wraparound brick terrace overlooking the towering masts of super-yachts that line the harbor. An interior dining room is netted in candlelight with ambiance of an art gallery and aesthetic of a gourmet eatery where maître d' and chef in toque run frantically about as customers moan in savory delight.
The Food
The menu begins with choice of ala carte or prix fixe menu where selections include menagerie of five fish presented on a platter with varying carpaccio, grilled and tataki variation. Other appetizers include a fine fritto misto, grilled langoustines and selection of fresh salads with varying accouterment. The homemade pastas are fantastic with dishes that range from the simple to the elaborate followed by main course of mostly seafood and spare meat selections.
